Nobody wants to look at a toilet brush. The whole point of a good one is that it disappears — into a closed canister that hides the bristles and catches the drips. But a cheap holder tips over, lets the wet brush breathe on your floor, or exposes bristles through a clear plastic window you can't un-see. We put three brush-and-holder sets through two weeks of real use.

What actually matters

• It has to close. A closed canister hides the bristles and keeps odor and moisture inside. An open-top holder defeats the purpose the moment you glance at it.
• Drip control. After you rinse the brush, water runs down the handle. A holder with a sealed base or drip tray keeps that water off the floor instead of under it.
• Stability. A brush you grab daily needs a weighted, non-slip base. A top-heavy holder tips the first time you pull the brush out in a hurry.

What we found

• The sealed no-drip holder closed around the brush, caught the water, and stayed planted on the tile — the honest winner.
• A compact stainless holder looked clean and hid the brush, but its narrow base wobbled when we pulled the brush out fast.
• An open-top plastic caddy was cheapest, but the bristles sat exposed and water pooled in the base after every use.

The verdict

For a small bathroom, a closed-canister brush with a sealed, weighted base that catches drips is the one worth buying. Skip open-top caddies — if you can see the brush, the brush hasn't done its one job.
