Shower squeegees that leave no streaks

A shower squeegee is the cheapest defense against water spots and soap scum — two seconds after every shower and the glass stays clear. But the wrong blade skips, squeaks, or leaves a fan of streaks that is somehow worse than the water itself. We ran three squeegees on the same glass door to see which one actually finishes the job.

What actually matters

• The blade, not the handle. A soft silicone blade that flexes into the glass is what removes water in one pass. A stiff blade skips on curved glass and leaves streaks.
• Rust resistance. The handle lives in a wet room and gets touched with wet hands. Stainless steel (or rust-proof coating) is the difference between a tool and a brown streak on your tile after a month.
• Storage. A squeegee that needs a hook you don't have ends up on the floor. One that hangs flat against the wall or comes with its own hook is the one you'll actually use.

What we found

• The stainless-and-silicone squeegee pulled water off in a single pass with no squeak and hung neatly from its own hook — the honest winner.
• A cheap plastic-handled squeegee was light but the blade was stiff, so it skipped on the curved corner of the door and left a wet crescent every time.
• A wide 14-inch blade cleared big panels fast but was clumsy around the handle and hinges, so edges stayed wet.

The verdict

For a glass shower door, a stainless steel squeegee with a soft silicone blade and its own adhesive hook is the one that earns its spot. Skip anything with a stiff plastic blade — it will squeak, skip, and leave the streaks you bought it to prevent.
