Pot lid holders that mount inside cabinet doors

Pot lids are the most annoying thing in any kitchen to store. They don't stack, they slide out of drawers, and they scratch your nonstick pans when they rattle loose in a cabinet. A lid holder that mounts on the inside of a cabinet door sounds like a clean fix — free space you already have, right where you cook. We mounted three no-drill racks and lived with them for two weeks to see what actually holds.

What actually matters

• The mount, not the rack. Adhesive mounts only hold if the door surface is clean, dry, and non-porous. A greasy or painted door will drop the whole rack — with your lids — by day three.
• Tier depth and width. A shallow tier fits a flat skillet lid but not a domed stockpot lid. Measure your widest lid before you buy.
• Weight. Cast-iron and heavy glass lids will bend flimsy wire tiers. Look for metal with a proper powder coat, not chrome-plated wire that rusts at the welds.

What we found

• The two-pack 6-tier rack held a full set of lids without sagging and the adhesive stayed firm on a clean painted door — the honest winner.
• A single flimsy wire rack bent under one cast-iron lid and left a rust spot at the weld within a week.
• A shallow 4-tier unit couldn't take a domed stockpot lid and left the deepest lids still rattling in the cabinet.

The verdict

For most kitchens, a two-pack 6-tier rack with no-drill adhesive and a proper powder-coated metal build is the one that earns its spot on the door. Skip the single flimsy wire racks — they bend under real weight and rust exactly where the tiers meet the frame.
